The Exercise
This exercise mimics the pose that most women use to give birth in hospitals. We show her up against a wall to stimulate the hospital bed in an elevated position, or the presence of supporting pillows.

The mother simulates the motions of birth by raising her legs up as much as she can, with the assistance of the Doula, who is either holding her legs up for her or guiding them to where they should be through touch.

NOTE: While this is a practice simulation of labor, the mother should not be pushing (which we hope is obvious) but allowing for the gentle, natural stretching of the pelvic floor muscles.

Purpose
The presence of the Doula behind her is physically comforting and allows her to provide easy emotional/verbal support.
