Membership Levels Explained
Madriella does not charge tuition for each course, our members pay a one-time enrollment fee, and the level of membership they select determines what courses they have access to.
There are only two levels, Professional Membership and Certified Birth and Postpartum Doulas. The Professional Membership grants access to ALL of our courses, while the Birth and Postpartum Doula membership only grant access to those two courses. The Professional Membership can be paid all at once ($300, valid for three years) or it can be broken down into Monthly payments ($75 upon enrollment, and $50 a month for 5 months for a total of $325).
All prices listed are for the Network Enrollment fee, which covers your access to the online material and the awarding of your certificates. All Enrollment fees are non-refundable and do not include the cost of the books. All Membership levels are valid for 3 years.
Professional Member
This level grants access to ALL of the courses. The courses are built on a prerequisite model, meaning that they have to be done in order, beginning with the Birth Doula Certification course. With this level, the Certifications earned are awarded immediately upon completion of the courses. Professional Members can be listed on our Find A Doula map and are eligible for a Smart ID badge that is integrated with our database so that your future clients and employers can scan it to see what credentials you have earned.
Professional Member (Monthly Payments)
As above, but you are only paying $75 upon enrollment and then $50 per month for five months ($325 total). With this level, the Certifications earned are awarded once the entire membership fee is paid.
Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula
This level grants access to the Birth and Postpartum Doula Certification courses only. The certifications earned are awarded upon completion of the courses. Members of this level ARE NOT listed on our website as Professional Members and are not eligible for the Smart ID badge. This level is designed for people that simply want to learn the Birth Support skills to serve as volunteers in birth centers or to help their friends or family members.
Additional Costs
All levels are required to the books, which do not have to be purchased all at once. You can see the complete book list here.
Professional Members are required to possess a valid CPR/First Aid certification (that includes infants) and a Safe Food Handling Certificate in order to be listed as a Professional Member on our website. You will be required to upload copies of the certificates when you are taking the Professional Development course, which is the third course you will take after the Birth and Postpartum Doula certifications.
